Código is a Peruvian digital magazine focused on news and content specialized in advertising, marketing, and communications. It stands out as the only media outlet in the country with exclusive journalistic and audiovisual coverage of the sector's major international events, such as the Cannes Film Festival, El Ojo de Iberoamérica, Roast Brief, El Dorado, Desachate, among others.

JAN-KEN-PO 18 is the eighteenth edition of the peruvian magazine Código - Yan Ken Po.

Project Goals

The main objective was to develop a digital illustration for the magazine's front and back covers, based on the client's concept: "We creatively prepare it to serve you... advertising, design, marketing, and related topics!"

The cover seeks to visually represent the spirit of creatives, designers, and marketing professionals who, day in and day out, "eat, breathe, and live their profession to the fullest," conveying energy, passion, and commitment through a vibrant and symbolic composition.

To achieve the result, I first had to understand the client's ideas and desires for the cover. From this, the following were defined:

“A person appears eating a word search puzzle, in which a keyword is formed (Advertising, Design, Marketing). Being a 100% professional, he practically becomes a zombie who must now "eat" human brains to continue living. In other words, he enters the mind of the audience, the client, to persuade, motivate, and excite them. And the makeup artist? The resulting ideas must be molded and, therefore, connect with the audience” - the client

The process began with pencil sketches on paper, exploring different visual proposals. These ideas were then digitized and vectorized in Adobe Illustrator. Although the initial intention was to develop a completely flat illustration, the decision was made to incorporate textures and shadows to add greater depth and realism to the composition.

I aimed to create a warm and stylized overall tone, deliberately moving away from traditional illustration. I found it valuable to not restrict the graphic content, as this allowed me to explore more narrative and visual options, successfully capturing the complete idea without limitations.

Thanks for taking a moment to look at my work!
